The Role of National Courts
As you’ll see in Modules 5 and 6, there are a variety of international procedures through which the United Nations monitors the degree to which states are meeting their human rights commitments. But a key way international legal rules are enforced is when national courts apply these rules. The next section will look in detail at the right to adequate housing, and efforts to enforce this right in Canadian courts.
