It is sometimes argued that economic and social rights were grounded in socialism, pushed by the Soviet Bloc countries in the Cold War, and that protecting them is not part of western legal tradition. In this regard, it might be interesting to watch this short speech delivered by IUS President Franklin Roosevelt in 1944.
